Accessibility Statement

1. Our Commitment

Accessibility is not a feature we add to Hearsee Mobility, it’s the reason we exist. That commitment extends to hearseemobility.org itself. We want this Site to be usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, screen magnification, voice control, keyboard-only navigation, or other assistive technology.

2. Conformance Target

We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, the widely accepted standard for web accessibility and the benchmark referenced under Title II and Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act. This is an ongoing effort rather than a one-time certification; as we rebuild and expand the Site, each new page is built with these standards in mind from the start.

3. What This Looks Like in Practice

  • Text and background color combinations are chosen to meet minimum contrast ratios.
  • Pages are built to be navigable by keyboard alone, without requiring a mouse.
  • Headings, links, and form fields are labeled so screen readers can announce them meaningfully.
  • Body text uses Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface designed specifically to increase legibility for readers with low vision.
  • Images include descriptive alt text where they convey information (decorative images are marked so assistive technology can skip them).

4. Known Limitations

We’re in the middle of a full rebuild of this Site, and not every page reflects the standard above yet. If you encounter a page, form, or feature that isn’t fully accessible to you, we want to know. See the feedback section below. We treat every report as an opportunity to fix a real gap, not just this Statement’s word choice.

5. Third-Party Content

Some content on this Site, such as embedded videos, maps, or donation-processing pages, is provided by third-party services we don’t fully control. We choose vendors with accessibility in mind where we can, but we can’t guarantee every third-party element meets the same standard as pages we build directly.

6. Feedback & Assistance

If you have trouble accessing any part of this Site, or need information in a different format, please contact us at info@hearseemobility.org. Tell us the page you were on and what happened. We aim to respond within a few business days and will work with you to get you the information or access you need another way in the meantime.

7. Ongoing Effort

This Statement will be updated as the Site rebuild continues and as we complete accessibility reviews of new pages. It reflects where we are, not a finished state, since accessibility work here is never really “done.”
