The Challenge

Why Museums Are Hard to Navigate

Museums are designed to be explored, not walked in a straight line. Open floor plans, rotating exhibits, and multiple entrances make static tactile maps and audio-tour scripts hard to keep current, and a visitor who wants to explore on their own often has no way to get from gallery to gallery without asking a docent.
